This typically occurs when attempting to process a refund. It can happen for two possible reasons:

  • You are attempting to refund a transaction above the original transaction amount (or remaining amount if partial refunds have already been submitted)

  • You are attempting to refund a transaction that is over 180 days old. Authorize.Net has a refund policy where only transactions settled within the past 180 days are eligible for a refund.
