Aliases
Overview
Aliases allow more than one name to be associated with a specific Member. This allows LearningBuilder to track maiden names, legal name changes, common misspellings, and known attempts by specific members to defraud the system by acting under multiple names.
When searching by name, the Member Search feature can search the aliases as well as the primary member name.
Alias functionality must be enabled via the EnableMemberAliases AppConfig setting.
Using Aliases
Assigning Aliases to a Member
When Aliases are enabled, they can be managed from the Member Profile page.
The dates associated with an Alias are optional and are for reference only; they can be used to document when the Alias became active, such as the date of a name change event.
Searching by Aliases
The Admin → Members page, as well as any other instance of the Member Search system, can be configured to search Alias data.
Once configured (see below), an option will be added to the “Member Name” search field that allows the user to optionally search against alias data as well as primary name data.
