Summary

"Products" provide a flexible yet powerful way of implementing many different financial use cases in LearningBuilder. Products can represent different types of fees on an application, payment discount vouchers, physical goods to be purchased by an applicant, etc. Each Product has a unique identifier, the Product Code, that identifies it within Learning Builder.

Primary Business Cases

The Products feature supports these business use cases:

  • /wiki/spaces/LBDEV/pages/361955357, in which Payments are comprised of specific line items such as fees, waivers, etc. By building payments out of those discrete pieces the system is better suited for integration with 3rd party accounting systems.

  • Discount Voucher Codes, which are essentially "dollar-off coupons"

  • /wiki/spaces/DOCS/pages/361824293, which work in conjunction with Structured Payments so that vouchers can cover one type of thing (like an application fee) without covering other things (like late fees)

Usage

Products are managed on the Admin → Products page. Currently, only Voucher type products may be created.

  • Requires the ManageProducts permission for the Admin area
