Member Profile Upload
This page describes the legacy Profile Upload feature that has been supported since the early versions of LearningBuilder.
This is separate from the Member Role Import feature that was introduced in 10.4. For a comparison of the two features, see Member / Member Role Import (DRAFT)

LearningBuilder™ allows you to upload member profile information in bulk. This feature supports the following:
Adding new profiles with a role
Adding roles to existing profiles
Adding phones and addresses to new and existing profiles
Adding notes to new and existing profiles
Updating profiles
Updating roles
Updating phones and addresses
This feature requires that you create a Comma Separated Value (CSV) file to import the data. It is usually easiest to use spreadsheet software, such as Excel, to work with the file.
However, bear in mind that .csv and .xls formats are not entirely compatible.
To perform a Bulk Profile Upload, perform the following steps:
Log In as a user with the AdminArea.Access permission.
Click on the Admin tab and then the Members sub navigation tab. You will see the Admin Members page.
Click on Upload Members and you will see the Bulk Member Upload page.
In this example you see the generic instructions. If you expect to use this feature often and want to tailor the instructions on this page to meet your most common usage, including your preferred template(s), you will need to update the Member Upload Instructions Content Block.
Prepare a CSV file. You may want to Download a Template if you haven't created a file already. Also see Bulk Profile CSV File Guidelines.
Click Choose File and a file browser will open.
Select your file to process.
Click Process File.
Either the file will be processed successfully and you will see this page:
Or the file will have errors and you will see this message block with the errors. See Resolving Bulk Profile Errors.
Uploading Providers
To upload Providers, first upload one file with a role listed as member type "organization" in the Roles page. Use the "Member Name" field, instead of First and Last Name.
Then upload another file for the contact staff. Use "Organization Staff" for the role, and use First and Last Name. Enter the Provider, from the preceding step, in the "Staff Of" field.
Known Issues
If you upload a file that contains multiple instances of a role for a user who does not already exist, the Profile Upload will add multiple new members, rather than one new member with multiple roles. See Case 16241 for more information.
