Perform Workflow Action Behaviors
These behaviors trigger a Workflow Action programmatically on a set of related Workflow instances, without requiring a user to click a button. They differ only in what objects are targeted and how those targets are identified.
Overview
In many implementations, completing one Workflow needs to automatically drive action on other related Workflows — for example, advancing all Activity Instances when a reviewer submits the containing Learning Plan Instance, or updating a parent Learning Plan Instance when a child Learning Plan Instance reaches a certain state. These Behaviors make that possible by executing a specified Workflow Action on a set of target objects when the behavior fires.
All configurable behaviors require you to identify the target Workflow, Step, and Action. Where relevant, a status filter restricts execution to targets in a specified state.
These behaviors support the following triggers: Workflow Action, Completion Status, and Scheduled Interval.

Behaviors
Workflow Step Action
Executes a Workflow Action on the current Workflow instance as if a user had clicked the action button, including any Behaviors attached to that action. This behavior is created automatically by LearningBuilder when a Workflow Action is configured for scheduled overnight execution — it is not configured directly in the UI.
You will encounter this behavior type when inspecting scheduled Workflow Step configurations, but you do not add it manually. It is managed by the system.
This behavior is only available on the Scheduled Interval trigger.
Field | Purpose |
