11.x.0: Innovation Line

The 11.x.0 releases, e.g. 11.1.0, 11.2.0, were originally intended to contain innovations or changes that were deemed risky and that we wanted to isolate from the Long Term Stable branch.

In practice, however, this was rarely used, and most changes were put directly into LTS after meeting sufficient quality checks.
