Pathways - Configuration Considerations

Use Case 1: I have a program that has two credentials, but I want one of them to be prioritized as that one is available to the general public and the other one has a more limited scope.

Use Case 2: I manage many different Credentials some of which are dependent on passing other Credentials but other can be taken anytime. A subset of interdependent Credentials are considered Core. The others are optional.

Settings to Determine Which Credentials to Include:

Default settings are in [brackets] for each of the 4 sections

Filter by Credential status:

Credentials the user has earned or has begun a Credential for [Top Section, First Tab]

Credentials the user does not have, but is eligible to start [Second Tab, Promoted]

Credentials the user does not have, and is NOT eligible to start

Filter by Credential:

these specific Credentials

Filter by Learning Plan status:

Learning Plans the user is allowed to start (Available) [First Tab, Second Tab]

Learning Plans the user has started and are in-progress (Incomplete) [Top Section, First Tab]

Learning Planc that have been completed (Completed) [First Tab]

Filter by Learning Plan:

these specific Learning Plans

If the section is empty:

Display section with the No Results Message [All Sections]

Hide the section

Top Section:

By default, the top section is configured to allow the user to pick up where they left off by showing only in process applications (Filter by Credential status set to Credentials the user has earned or has begun a Credential for and Filter by Learning Plan status set to Learning Plans the user has started and are in progress (Incomplete)) However, there are situations where you might want to configure this differently.

  • If there is only one credential, you may use this to show all applications and hide the other two tabs. To show all applications, check all the boxes.

  • If there are many applications, you may want to use this to show all started and complete applications, using the other sections to list only available applications.

First Tabbed Section:

By default, the first tabbed section is configured to show the credentials you currently have, or have started. Alternatively, it can be used in conjunction with the second tab to group similar credentials together when there is a long list of potential credentials.

Second Tabbed Section

By default, the first tabbed section is configured to show the credentials you currently do not have but could start. Alternatively, it can be used in conjunction with the first tab to group similar credentials together when there is a long list of potential credentials. It can also include credentials the person can start yet but that you still want them to know about.

 

To Group By Credential or Not

Each section has the option to group by Credential. By default, the top section does not, but the other two do. When grouping by credential, the system shows a credential header that includes the description of the section. However, it also collapses the application under the header requiring the user to expand it to access any applications. Benefits include the header template and grouping. Drawbacks are the need to expand it to figure out the next action.

To include in-process applications in the tabbed sections

There is an option in each section to include or exclude in-process applications. By default, this is togged on for all sections. But this means the user may see the same application in both the top section and one of the tabbed sections, which may cause confusion. You may wish to hide in-process applications from the tabbed sections to avoid this confusion.
